jennifer.leitzel@hcps.org

Churchville and Fountain Green band and string students will find...

  • information about joining the program, including a printable supply list for each instrument
  • lesson schedules
  • concert information
  • instructional videos
  • practice sheets and music
  • links to many fun and useful websites

ATTENTION BEGINNER STRING STUDENTS: Please DO NOT touch the bow! It could get damaged. We will be learning about the bow after we have learned to hold our instrument in shoulder position and have developed our LEFT HAND technique. This usually takes at least 6 - 8 weeks.

5th Grade Students:

  • Strings: We will be using the Essential Elements 2000 Method Book 1. Also, please make sure that you have rosin. Don't forget to loosen the bow after each practice session.

PERCUSSION STUDENTS - We will also be using Alfred's Basic Drum Method in addition to the Band Expressions Book. If you do not already own this method book, please purchase a copy before your first lesson if possible. MusicLand and Music and Arts should have this method book in stock.

*Clarinet and saxophone students: Please make sure that you have at least 5 good reeds. You need to have RICO ROYAL #2.5 strength reeds. Here is a link to a very good website for purchasing reeds and other musical supplies. You will find the prices to be lower than at most retails stores. Click here to go to their website: Woodwind and Brasswind
